Data Science, MSc

The MSc in Data Science is a forward-thinking programme designed to equip participants with the technical skills, analytical mindset, and ethical awareness necessary for success in a data-driven environment. The course offers a blend of foundational knowledge and emerging technologies, suitable for those transitioning into the field or seeking to deepen existing expertise.

Initial studies focus on core modules that build proficiency in programming, machine learning, big data, data visualisation, and statistical methods for time series analysis. The curriculum also explores the ethical dimensions of data science while developing essential academic and professional skills. The programme concludes with a substantial MSc Project, providing an opportunity to apply theoretical learning to a real-world challenge.

Personalisation of the educational experience is achieved through the selection of modules from two specialist groups. The first group offers a choice between Clouds, Grids and Virtualisation or Blockchain for FinTech Applications, providing insight into the future of data infrastructure and finance. The second group allows for a specialisation in either Technologies for Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime or Graph and Modern Databases, focusing on financial data applications or advanced database systems respectively.
