Gender History MSc

This is a specialized humanities programme, unique in the UK. The MSc in Gender History moves beyond traditional historical narratives to analyze the past through the lens of gender. It is hosted by the Centre for Gender History, which boasts the largest concentration of gender historians in Britain.

The curriculum is rigorous and theoretical. Core modules like Gender, Politics and Power and Gender, Culture and Text challenge students to deconstruct historical sources—examining how concepts of masculinity and femininity influenced wars, revolutions, and social structures.

Students benefit from close ties with the Glasgow Women’s Library (the only accredited museum of its kind in the UK). The programme is an intellectual hub for those interested in feminism, intersectionality, and queer history, preparing graduates for careers in heritage, policy, and NGOs.
