Education (Primary) PGDE
University of Glasgow Campus, United Kingdom
This is a professional vocational programme, strictly for applicants who already hold a bachelor’s degree (in any subject) and want to become Primary School Teachers. The PGDE (Primary) at the University of Glasgow is an internationally recognized route to the teaching profession. Unlike theoretical degrees, this programme is split 50/50: you spend 18 weeks in university and 18 weeks in partner schools, learning by doing.
The curriculum is research-led with a strong focus on Social Justice, challenging future teachers to create inclusive environments. It uniquely offers the optional Catholic Teacher’s Certificate for those wishing to teach in denominational schools.
Upon successful completion, graduates earn 90 Masters-level credits and are eligible for the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS), which guarantees a one-year paid probationary teaching post in Scotland (subject to eligibility).
