Program Overview: Sports Policies, Governance and Information

The Bachelor in Sports Policies, Governance and Information (Politiche, Governance e Informazione dello Sport — PO.G.I.S.) at the University of Genoa is the first undergraduate degree program in Italy entirely dedicated to the organizational, managerial, and communicative aspects of sport. Designed by the Department of Political and International Sciences (DI.S.P.I.), the program provides students with interdisciplinary competencies for professional careers in the sports sector at both national and international levels.

The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge in economics, statistics, law, sociology, political science, history, geography, and anthropology with practical content covering sports law, sports enterprise management, sports journalism, web communication and new media, and facility safety management. Students also develop proficiency in at least two foreign languages, including English and a second European language chosen from Spanish, French, or German.

This program responds to the growing demand for qualified professionals in the sports industry, a sector recognized in the Italian Constitution for its civic, social, educational, and health-promoting functions. Graduates are well-prepared for immediate employment or to continue their studies at the master's level in fields such as International Relations, Public Administration and Policy, or Information and Publishing.
