Overview

The Acting for Stage and Screen MFA is designed to develop versatile, reflective, and professionally prepared actors for contemporary performance industries. The programme integrates rigorous actor training with creative practice across theatre, film, and screen-based performance, enabling students to build strong technical skills while developing an individual artistic voice.

Throughout the course, students receive intensive training in acting techniques for both stage and screen, including voice, movement, character development, and screen acting methodologies. Practical workshops, rehearsals, and performance projects form the core of learning, allowing students to apply theory directly to practice in a supportive and collaborative environment.

A strong emphasis is placed on professional practice and industry readiness. Students work on performance projects, participate in collaborative productions, and engage in portfolio development to prepare for employment in theatre, film, television, and digital media. Collaboration with students from filmmaking, directing, and other creative disciplines enhances interdisciplinary understanding and reflects real-world creative processes.

The programme encourages critical reflection and research-informed practice, supporting students in understanding the social, cultural, and artistic contexts of performance. Diversity, inclusion, and contemporary storytelling are central themes, ensuring that students are prepared to work ethically and creatively within global performance industries.

Teaching is delivered by experienced practitioners and academics with current industry involvement, supported by guest workshops, networking opportunities, and exposure to professional performance contexts. Graduates of the Acting for Stage and Screen MFA emerge as confident, adaptable performers equipped for careers on stage, on screen, and across a wide range of creative industries.
