Overview

Forensic anthropology is the study of human remains, for medical and legal purposes. It plays a key role in UK and international investigations in cases of interpersonal violence and homicide, repatriation, mass disasters and war crimes.

Our Master’s course will teach you how forensic anthropology contributes to the analysis and interpretation of human remains. You will also study either skeletal development or the techniques used in the search for human remains. This will prepare you for a successful career upon graduating.

You'll have access to our skeletal collections. This will aid you in your understanding and knowledge of the human skeleton. It will also contribute to your understanding of the differentiation of human and animal remains, including:

  • the unique Scheuer collection of juvenile skeletal remains
  • the adult osteology collection
  • the animal osteology collection
