Overview

At Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, we echo animation industry practice as closely as possible. You will work to briefs, learning about professional production practices within a variety of specialisms.

Our course is constantly developing to reflect an ever-changing industry, requiring graduates with new skills in new processes and software all the time. With graduate credits in Game of Thrones, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the Disney Channel, our course is recognised for graduates who have the skills employers need.

Each student has their own workspace in our vibrant, friendly, industrious studios.

Subjects taught:

  • principles of character animation (2D and 3D)
  • narrative structure and storyboarding
  • character development and design
  • concept and production design

Animation student work

“I’ve really enjoyed the Animation course here. I’ve always been interested in storytelling and I like the fact that the course is so story-driven. You put a lot of hard work into an animation, but when you see the finished result I think it’s one of the most satisfying forms of art.”
