Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems

AIIS students receive comprehensive training in theoretical, practical, and applied AI while specializing in “Cognition-Enabled Robotics” and “Machine Learning & Cognitive Systems”, choosing one of the two as major and the other as minor. Other features of AIIS are the Guided Research module – an independent student research project with individual supervision by a professor – and the Master Project module. The latter is a specialty of Bremen's computer science programs. There, topics of practical importance are worked on intensively in groups over a longer period of time. AIIS is a four-term program comprising 120 credit points (CP). Courses will be taught in English and international students are very welcome. The study program is designed for a standard period of study of four semesters (full-time study) and ends with the degree "Master of Science" (M.Sc.). - Those who do not pursue their studies full-time (e.g. for family or health reasons or due to parallel employment) must plan for a correspondingly longer study period. The study program is modular. There are only a few modules with compulsory courses. For the other modules, students can choose between different courses. Each course is assigned a point value (credit points, CP), which is a measure of the relative average amount of work that must be done for the individual courses. A total of 120 CP must be achieved for the successful completion of the Master's program. The program is completed with the master's thesis. Students thus demonstrate that they have acquired the thorough specialist knowledge required for professional practice, have an overview of the interrelationships of their subject, and possess the ability to apply scientific methods and findings in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems.
