The University of Bonn, officially the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, was founded on 18 October 1818 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. Since 2019, the University of Bonn holds the title of University of Excellence under Germany's Excellence Strategy and boasts more Clusters of Excellence than any other German university.
