Literature & Media

This interdisciplinary program combines literary and media studies in a novel way, thus addressing the ever-growing importance of media in the cultural sector. Based on modules in literary and media studies, the program focuses on the complex interrelationships between literature and media. Students will explore the extent to which literature itself is a medium and how literary studies can be understood as media studies. Students will also explore the relationship between literature and other media—from oral storytelling to film and new media—and explore forms of intermedial exchange. In this way, the program imparts theoretical, textual, media, historical, and cultural competencies.
