The MA Animation at the University for the Creative Arts builds on over 50 years of animation education at the UCA Farnham campus, originally established by Academy Award winner and Henry's Cat creator Bob Godfrey. This internationally recognised program provides a strong interdisciplinary approach to the animated form, attracting students from around the world to create a rich cultural and creative mix.

You will approach animation as a broad discipline and be encouraged to engage with experimental and speculative approaches to making through a range of projects, culminating in the production of a high-quality animated film. The course is proud to have no house style, offering a wide range of technical resources covering the whole spectrum of contemporary animation, from traditional 2D and 3D stop motion to digital techniques.

Throughout the program, you will be supported by internationally renowned staff who encourage you to take risks, explore new techniques, and develop your individual artistic voice. Animation Studio 1

Consolidate and extend your animation skills using industry-standard techniques of pre-production, production, and post-production to develop an original idea into a completed animation with sound, typically comprising a one-minute short film.

Animation Studio 2

Build on the skills and knowledge developed in Animation Studio 1 to produce a more ambitious and technically refined animated film that demonstrates your individual creative vision and advanced command of your chosen animation medium.
