
Art History and Archaeology

Art History requires the acquisition of a methodology applied to the commentary of works in the fields of visual arts (painting, sculpture, engraving, decorative arts, etc.) and architecture. The history of artistic techniques as well as the historical and cultural contexts of the centers of production are also to be mastered. Emphasis will be placed on the role of professional internships in the course, which are compulsory in L3 – candidates are encouraged to increase the number of internships at regional, national and international levels. Skills developed:
• Critical approach to disciplines and mastery of commentary techniques, analysis of works and data, dissertation, and oral presentation.
• Solid foundation of knowledge allowing works or objects to be placed in their sociocultural, geographical and chronological contexts.
• Training in multidisciplinarity: integration of essential contributions to the analysis of works and objects.
• Practical skills: compulsory internships in L3 (with possibilities of doing internships from L1) in museums, galleries, foundations, cultural institutions, etc.
• Language and IT skills (digital tools).
