Admission Requirements

Admission to the M.Sc. AI in Society at TUM is determined through an aptitude assessment procedure that evaluates your academic background, relevant experience, and motivation. The program welcomes applicants from social sciences, political sciences, economics, law, psychology, and related fields who have a keen interest in the intersection of AI and society.

Academic Requirements

  • Undergraduate DegreeA recognized Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a minimum standard period of study of 6 semesters (180 ECTS) in social sciences, political sciences, economics, law, psychology, or a related field
  • Mathematics or StatisticsAt least 5 ECTS credits in mathematics or statistics modules completed during the undergraduate degree
  • Practical Project ExperienceA practical project of at least 18 credits integrating engineering or scientific knowledge with political, economic, or social science insights
  • Minimum Credits for ApplicationAt least 140 ECTS credits completed at the time of application (final degree must be completed before enrollment)
  • Aptitude AssessmentSuccessful completion of TUM's aptitude assessment procedure, which evaluates Bachelor's grades, written documents, and motivation

Language Requirements

  • TOEFL iBTMinimum score of 88 (or equivalent)
  • IELTS AcademicMinimum overall band score of 6.5

Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship)

EUR 300 per month

A merit- and achievement-based national scholarship open to all students regardless of nationality. TUM awards approximately 800 Deutschlandstipendium scholarships each year, funded jointly by private donors and the German federal government. It rewards academic excellence, personal achievements, and social commitment.

TUM Scholarship for International Students

EUR 500 to EUR 1,800 per semester

A need- and merit-based one-time financial aid funded by the Bavarian government, available to international students not eligible for German state funding (BAfoG). Students may reapply each semester for a maximum funding period of 36 months.
