Contemporary Sociology

This training aims at acquiring theoretical and methodological skills both in general sociology and in a variety of more specific research fields such as the theory and epistemology of social sciences, analytical sociology, sociology of beliefs, sociology of stratification, sociology of science, economic sociology, sociology of digital technology and sociology of social networks. Regarding technical knowledge, the training aims at acquiring programming skills in R, Python, SAS and NetLogo, which allows to cover both quantitative data analysis and the construction of more advanced computer simulation models. Some software for textual analysis is also covered during the training, which also allows to cover the processing of qualitative data. Finally, particular attention is paid to the different modes of data collection, whether quantitative (structured questionnaire surveys for individual and network data) or qualitative (unstructured interview).
