Events Management
Robert Gordon University Campus, United Kingdom
The programme delivers a comprehensive blend of management theory and specialised event practice across four undergraduate years. In year one, students acquire fundamentals of business and event basics, learning to scope, design and execute events while beginning an Industry Experience Portfolio. Year two builds managerial expertise through advertising, consumer behaviour, leisure studies and risk management, complemented by a student‑led conference project. In year three, the focus shifts to policy, planning for diverse events from community festivals to mega‑sporting spectacles, sustainability strategies, entrepreneurship and ethical consumption, with a city‑centre festival delivered for a charity. The final year requires an independent research project and the planning and delivery of a large‑scale charity event on a city‑wide stage, alongside optional modules in leisure tourism or consumer psychology. Throughout the course, assessment combines written assignments, portfolios, oral presentations and practical projects, and teaching incorporates lectures, tutorials, field trips, guest lectures and masterclasses, fostering both analytical and hands‑on competencies.
