The Health Management master's program at Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) prepares highly qualified specialists to take responsibility for the development and analysis of national healthcare policy, including state officials, heads of private institutions, and specialists in strategic, financial, and human resources planning. This unique program is jointly offered by RSU and RISEBA (Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration), combining expertise from both healthcare and management sciences.
Established on the basis of the latest findings and approaches in healthcare and management science, this is the only study program of its kind in Latvia and the Baltic States. Students acquire in-depth knowledge in health economics and management science and learn how to apply this knowledge practically in the health sector, including operational and human resources management.
The study process includes lectures, practical classes, group tasks, case analysis, interactive discussions, individual work, and guest lectures by healthcare professionals. Students also benefit from regular sharing of study experience with long-term university partners in other countries, including the University of Greifswald in Germany.

Curriculum & Modules
The Health Management program is structured across four semesters, with the first year devoted to foundational subjects in public health, health care management, health economics, and leadership. In the second year, students choose a specialization module, complete a professional placement, and defend a Master's Thesis that combines academic and practical research.
Health Care Management and Public Health
10 ECTSCovers classical management theories, health care systems analysis, organisational theory, change management, decision-making processes, and strategic planning in health care institutions in Latvia and internationally.
Health Economics and Finance Management
10 ECTSExplores principles of health care financing, payment for services, health technology assessment, and the application of economic methods to evaluate and improve health care delivery systems.
Leadership and Human Resources in Health Care
10 ECTSDevelops leadership skills and the fundamental knowledge required for managing health care enterprises and organisations, including change management, project management, and organisational work culture.
Research Methods and Data Analysis
10 ECTSBuilds abilities and skills for collecting, processing, and analysing quantitative and qualitative research data, preparing students for involvement in healthcare research projects of national and international importance.

Admission Requirements
The Health Management MA program welcomes applicants from diverse academic backgrounds in social sciences, medicine, health care, and related fields.
