Originally established as the Riga Medical Institute on the basis of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Latvia, RSU has evolved into a comprehensive university offering programmes in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, social sciences, public health, and law. Non-EU/EEA students must apply for a student visa (D visa) before arriving in Latvia. After arrival, students apply for a temporary residence permit for the duration of their studies with assistance from the International Student Office.
All international students must have valid health insurance. The RSU Health Centre on campus provides GP consultations, physiotherapy, vaccinations, and infectious disease services.
