Queen Margaret University (QMU) is a public university located in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Founded in 1875 as the Edinburgh School of Cookery and Domestic Economy by Christian Guthrie Wright and Louisa Stevenson, the institution was established to improve women's access to higher education and to enhance the diets of working-class families. Named after Saint Margaret of Scotland, QMU was granted full university status in January 2007.
