Why Study Elementary Education?

Elementary school teachers change lives. You’ll serve as a role model of curiosity and inquiry, spark their imagination by teaching them to read, open young minds to the communities that surround them, and bring important world events to the classroom. During this critical stage of your students’ development, you can help them build self-confidence and acquire the interpersonal skills that will make them stronger individuals and better citizens.

Student Learning Outcomes

Program Requirements

Students completing the requirements for a major in elementary education will be prepared as competent, respectful, and reflective professionals who are dedicated to serving diverse learning communities. This major leads to teacher licensure and students must also complete an 18-semester hour endorsement or academic area of concentration.

To be admitted to this major, students must be accepted to North Park University and also meet the teacher education program admission requirements.

• Students must complete 45 credit hours with a GPA of at least 2.50 before enrolling in Professional Term A courses.
