Why Study Psychology?
If you have a desire to understand human behavior and improve the health and well being of others, psychology will provide insight into the mind and behavior while developing your skills in critical thinking, effective oral and written communication, research and statistical proficiency, and problem solving.

Psychology Student Learning Outcomes
- Knowledge Base: Demonstrate fundamental knowledge and comprehension of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, historical trends, and empirical findings in psychology.
- Scientific Inquiry and Critical Thinking: Demonstrate scientific reasoning and problem solving using basic skills and concepts in interpreting behavior, studying research, and applying research design principles to drawing conclusions about psychological phenomena.
- Ethical and Social Responsibility in a Diverse World: Describe and apply ethically and socially responsible behaviors for professional and personal settings.
- Communication: Demonstrate competence in writing, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional Development: Apply psychology-specific content and skills to self and others to succeed in the workforce.
Program Requirements
Students who complete the major requirements for a bachelor of arts (BA) or bachelor of science (BS) in psychology will develop an understanding of the complexity of behavior; be informed about its biological, cognitive, developmental, social, and cultural dimensions; and be able to apply empirical methods, interpretive skills, and faith in their chosen profession.
