Adolescence Education, Grades 7 - 12 Overview

The 30-credit Master of Science in Secondary Education, Grades 7-12, leads to initial professional certification. Professional certification candidates must have completed three years of teaching in the area of the certificate.

This program has subject concentrations for:

• English
• Math
• Social studies
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Earth Science

Degree-seeking students in all Secondary Education programs must successfully complete the education capstone requirement specific to their degree program prior to degree conferral.

All candidates in Secondary Education are encouraged to join the national professional organization in their respective content fields.

Career Opportunities

Students can pursue careers as:

• High school teacher, grades 9–12
• Middle school teacher, grades 7–8
• English, mathematics, social studies or science teacher
• Positions in New York public & private schools
