The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is the largest institution of higher education for biomedical sciences in Lithuania, successfully integrating studies, research, and clinical practice. Located in Kaunas, Lithuania's second-largest city, LSMU was formed in 2010 through the merger of Kaunas University of Medicine and the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy, both with roots dating back to the early 1920s.

LSMU consists of two main academies of equal standing: the Medical Academy and the Veterinary Academy. Together they encompass 7 faculties, 4 research institutes, two animal clinics, and the Hospital of LSMU Kaunas Clinics, which is the largest medical institution in the Baltic countries.

A large number of the most popular programmes are taught in English and accept international students from over 50 countries. LSMU continuously increases the number of degrees offered in English, with a target to reach 50 percent of the total number, making it one of the most internationally oriented universities in Lithuania.
