The Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) program at Laurentian University produces graduates who have the knowledge, values, attitudes, and competencies reflecting the philosophy, nature, and scope of nursing of diverse populations in small urban, northern rural, and remote communities. The program offers four distinct streams: Thesis (research), Advanced Practice Nursing (course-based), Nurse Practitioner (clinical), and Post Nurse Practitioner Certificate (course-based). All streams are delivered remotely through synchronous and asynchronous coursework, with the exception of onsite clinical requirements for the Nurse Practitioner stream only.

Advanced Practice Nursing I
3 creditsProvides learners with a broader understanding of advanced practice nursing within historical, current, and future contexts of health care, using philosophical and critical perspectives as a foundation for a theoretical framework.
Thesis Proposal Development
3 creditsFocuses on the development of thesis-related objectives in consultation with a faculty supervisor, including analysis of thesis elements, proposal development, literature review, and critique of the research process.
Pathophysiology for Nurse Practitioners
3 creditsExamines theoretical and practice-related concepts in pathophysiology as a basis for advanced nursing practice, relevant to the Nurse Practitioner stream.
Integrative Practicum (NP Stream)
VariableA capstone clinical practicum for Nurse Practitioner students that integrates all prior coursework and clinical learning into comprehensive primary health care practice under supervision.
