Vadi Campus, Turkey
Overview
Architecture and Design education opens the doors of a new world to its students. In this world, all the formations, experiences, presentations and realizations related to the social-cultural, technological and artistic past of humanity are in our field of interest, as well as utopias and manifestos. Design, which is the only competitive tool of our day, is made under the control of a brain that is curious, suspicious and excited, and can establish relationships, in addition to knowing these. Therefore, the basis of our educational approach is to "ensure that the student becomes an intellectual person and an architect".
Therefore, architecture-design education can be completed successfully if the appropriate science score is obtained. Because architectural design and life in general, just like mathematics, should be considered as a process of intellectual energy reflections from the subtle and elegant productions of the human brain.
The results of architecture directly affect nature and society. For this reason, architecture is one of the three professions that the European Union gives importance and priority to, along with medicine and law.
In architectural education, the student constantly actively produces and presents ideas. The Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Istinye University, aims to realize an understanding that accepts the student as a partner in education, instead of a guild-like or Bauhaus-heritage master-apprentice education approach. In our institution, it is essential that our students are trained not as repeaters of loaded knowledge, but as ethical individuals who can produce the special knowledge required for every architectural-design study that will affect society and nature, under the conditions of tomorrow that cannot be known today. In summary, we see architectural education as "an intellectual education area" beyond being a vocational education.
Our faculty is also aware of the potential of the architectural, cultural, geographical and technological heritage and values of Anatolia and Istanbul in architectural education and uses these advantages effectively in its education.
