History

History is a branch of science that uses almost all of the social sciences. Other branches of science such as theology, sociology, philology, diplomacy, law, and economics are considered to be the instrumental sciences of history. Since the geography where our country is located is at the crossroads of ancient civilizations, political and diplomatic developments are constantly attributed to history. History, which has a history older than many branches of science, can be considered to have a well-established tradition in our country in terms of studies conducted for centuries. Again, when compared to other branches of science, it has a world-wide and cited publication and research field. When it is considered that the history of dozens of states in our immediate vicinity can be researched from the Ottoman archives, the importance of the History Department increases even more. If Russian, Persian, Italian, Spanish and other Central European languages ​​are known, it can be easily understood that the most original and valuable historical research in the world can only be done in our country. In our age, where the importance of social sciences is increasing, our program aims to train the history researchers that our country and neighboring countries need. In order to achieve this goal, the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul, the Presidency of Manuscripts, Beyazıt Library, IRCICA Library, and ISAM Research Center are the most important elements. The formation courses to be given by the Faculty of Education within our university will also open a door for our graduates to be appointed as teachers.
