Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University (IZU) is a private, non-profit foundation university established on April 24, 2010 by the Ilim Yayma Vakfi (Foundation for the Propagation of Science). Classes commenced in the 2011-2012 academic year, and the university is officially recognized and accredited by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YOK).
The university is named after Professor Sabahattin Zaim (1926-2007), a distinguished economist who served at Istanbul University's Faculty of Economics and later became the founding rector of the International University of Sarajevo. IZU's 155-acre historical campus in Halkali traces its educational heritage back to the 1892 Agricultural and Veterinary College, where Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the author of Turkey's national anthem, once studied and taught.
Today, IZU offers 36 undergraduate programs, 65 master's programs, and 19 doctoral programs across its faculties.
