Pre-Master (preparatory semester) (English)
Frankfurt Campus, Germany
Overview
The Pre-Master's Program at ISM is a one-semester preparatory course designed specifically for students who hold a non-business-related bachelor’s degree but wish to pursue a master’s degree in business administration or a related management field. The program provides a solid foundation in university-level business administration, ensuring that students are well-equipped with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in advanced graduate-level studies.
Over the course of the semester, students are introduced to the core concepts of business administration, including key principles in management, organizational theory, and the structure and functioning of modern businesses. Special attention is given to accounting, where students learn how to interpret and manage financial information, as well as to quantitative methods, which are essential for data analysis, forecasting, and informed decision-making in a business context.
In addition to quantitative and financial competencies, the program also introduces students to human resource management, covering topics such as personnel planning, recruitment, employee development, and leadership practices. These are vital skills for future managers who need to understand how to build and sustain effective teams in dynamic environments.
The curriculum also includes international marketing, where students gain insights into global marketing strategies, consumer behavior, brand positioning, and market analysis. These insights are crucial for understanding how to operate in international markets and communicate value across cultural and geographic boundaries.
The Pre-Master’s Program is taught by experienced faculty and combines theoretical knowledge with practical case studies and interactive classroom discussions. Students benefit from ISM’s applied teaching approach, which prepares them not only academically but also for the real-world challenges of graduate business education.
Upon successful completion, graduates of the program are fully prepared to enter ISM’s English- or German-language master’s programs in business or management with confidence and a strong academic foundation. The Pre-Master’s serves as an important bridge between undergraduate studies in other fields and the demands of rigorous business education at the graduate level, laying the groundwork for a successful career in management, entrepreneurship, or consultancy.
