M.Sc. International Business (English)
Dortmund Campus, Germany
Overview
The M.Sc. International Business program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of global business practices and management strategies. Ideal for those aiming to pursue leadership roles in multinational companies, global consulting firms, or international organizations, this Master's program offers a well-rounded and practice-oriented education with a strong international focus.
Throughout the first two semesters, students gain a solid foundation in core business disciplines, including business administration, strategic management, accounting, and controlling. These are further enhanced by in-depth modules in international marketing, cross-cultural communication, global human resource management, and international business strategy. The curriculum integrates both theoretical knowledge and practical applications, enabling students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential in today's interconnected economy.
A distinguishing feature of the program is its international orientation. Students benefit from case studies based on real global business scenarios, international guest lectures, and collaboration with peers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. Foreign language training is also part of the curriculum, enhancing students' ability to operate effectively in multicultural business environments.
In the third semester, students have the opportunity to study abroad at one of ISM’s numerous partner universities around the world. This experience broadens their global perspective, improves intercultural skills, and allows for the exploration of regional business practices in a different academic and cultural context. The International Office supports students in selecting and applying to their preferred partner institutions.
The program culminates in the fourth semester with a practice-oriented Master's thesis, often conducted in cooperation with a company or as part of a real-world project. This final research work allows students to apply their accumulated knowledge to a complex business issue, while simultaneously building strong industry connections.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded 120 ECTS credits and graduate with a competitive edge for the global job market. Whether their goal is to start an international career, enter a leadership development program, or launch their own business, graduates of the M.Sc. International Business program are well-prepared to take on strategic roles in a rapidly changing business landscape.
