Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France
Master of Science and Technology in Visual and Creative Artificial Intelligence (ViCAI)
Institut Polytechnique de Paris
Artificial Intelligence & Visual Computing
Program Overview: Visual and Creative Artificial Intelligence
The Visual and Creative Artificial Intelligence (ViCAI) Master is a two-year program entirely taught in English, designed for highly qualified and internationally oriented students. It is offered through Ecole Polytechnique, a founding member of Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and provides an in-depth understanding of the most recent techniques in artificial intelligence and visual computing.
The program's curriculum comprises two complementary branches: Artificial Intelligence, covering statistical learning, deep learning, and data analysis; and Visual Computing, encompassing 3D computer graphics, virtual and augmented reality, multimodal interaction, computer vision, robotics, and 3D manufacturing. This unique combination prepares you to deeply understand multimodal AI and implement cutting-edge methods efficiently.
Graduates emerge equipped to become creators of innovative applications that apply artificial intelligence to visual content, providing new solutions to creative tasks. The program integrates high-level scientific courses taught by faculty from Ecole Polytechnique and partner companies, along with weekly seminars on innovation management and entrepreneurship.
Key Program Highlights
- Unique dual focus on artificial intelligence and visual computing, combining machine learning with 3D graphics, computer vision, and creative applications
- Taught entirely in English by leading faculty from Ecole Polytechnique and industry partners, with strong ties to the Hi! PARIS AI research center
- Hands-on experience through internships of four to five months at the end of each year and a transverse industry project in the second year
- Located on the Plateau de Saclay, one of the world's top eight innovation clusters, just 20 minutes from Paris
Curriculum and Modules
The ViCAI curriculum takes you to the heart of computational sciences and their most promising applications. The first year focuses on the foundations of multimodal AI and an introduction to visual computing, while the second year offers advanced courses in deep learning, computer vision, and 3D content creation, culminating in applied projects with industrial partners.
Machine Learning Foundations
Core ModuleCovers the fundamentals of statistical learning, data analysis, and classical machine learning algorithms, providing the theoretical grounding for advanced AI techniques studied later in the program.
Image Analysis and Computer Vision
Core ModuleIntroduces image processing, feature extraction, and computer vision techniques, teaching you to analyze and interpret visual data using both traditional and deep learning-based approaches.
Computer Animation and 3D Graphics
Core ModuleExplores 3D computer graphics, animation techniques, and rendering methods, equipping you with skills to create and manipulate virtual 3D environments and animated content.
Advanced Deep Learning and Generative AI
Core ModuleDelves into deep reinforcement learning, large language models, self-supervised learning, and generative AI models, covering the most recent breakthroughs in the field.
Natural Language and Speech Processing
Core ModuleFocuses on computational methods for understanding and generating natural language and speech, including modern transformer-based architectures and multimodal language-vision models.
Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Seminars
Core ModuleWeekly seminars featuring conferences by academic and industrial partners, covering ethical and legal issues raised by AI and visual computing, as well as project management and technology venture creation.
