Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) is a public higher education and research institution comprising six prestigious French engineering grandes ecoles: Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole nationale des ponts et chaussees (ENPC), ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Telecom Paris, and Telecom SudParis. Officially established by government decree on May 31, 2019, IP Paris brings together over two centuries of combined expertise in science, technology, and engineering education.
Located on the Plateau de Saclay, just south of Paris, IP Paris sits within one of the world's top eight innovation clusters, often referred to as the French Silicon Valley. The institute develops multidisciplinary education from Bachelor to PhD levels across ten disciplinary departments, supported by 30 research laboratories and a community of approximately 1,800 faculty members and experts.
IP Paris was created following French President Emmanuel Macron's 2017 announcement to establish a second university pole on the Paris-Saclay plateau, grouping together elite engineering schools. The institute's mission centers on knowledge transfer to the economy and society, driven by a network of incubators, interdisciplinary centers, and partnerships with leading public and private research organizations including CNRS, INRIA, and Thales.
