The MSc in Pharmaceutical Business Management (MSPBM) at Griffith College is designed to develop your ability to manage businesses and strengthen your leadership skills within the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry. Available on both a full-time and part-time basis, the programme is conducted over a 1.5 or 2 year period respectively.
This programme develops your abilities to research current trends and developments in the Pharmaceutical Business Management industry and to build the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to work across multiple industries, whether they are service or manufacturing oriented. You will study key subjects including International Strategy, International Marketing Management, Leadership and Management Development, and Management Accounting and Control.
Delivered at Griffith College's Cork campus, the programme consists of three stages: two taught semesters totalling 60 credits, followed by a dissertation stage worth 30 credits. Graduates who wish to further develop their management competencies will be eligible to transfer to the MBA stage of the existing suite of programmes in International Business.

Curriculum & Modules
The MSc in Pharmaceutical Business Management is structured across three stages. Stages 1 and 2 comprise two taught semesters totalling 60 credits, leading to a Postgraduate Diploma exit award for those who wish to stop at that point. Stage 3 is a dissertation-based semester worth 30 credits, bringing the total to 90 ECTS for the full MSc award.
International Strategy
10 ECTSIntroduces and develops the concepts, perspectives, and tools associated with strategy formulation and development, placing them within the complexities of undertaking business in different countries and cultures.
Leadership and Management Development
10 ECTSExamines the role played by global leadership and management in organisations and in determining organisational culture, covering both commercial, public, and voluntary sector contexts.
International Marketing Management
10 ECTSExplores marketing strategies and management practices in the international pharmaceutical context, covering market analysis, brand management, and global marketing frameworks.
Pharmaceutical Marketing
10 ECTSFocuses on marketing principles specific to the pharmaceutical industry, including product commercialisation, regulatory considerations in marketing, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Management Accounting and Control
10 ECTSDevelops competencies in financial management, budgeting, cost analysis, and control systems relevant to pharmaceutical business operations and decision-making.
Dissertation (Industry Sponsored)
30 ECTSThe culminating research project where you select a topic relevant to pharmaceutical business management, conduct in-depth research under supervisor guidance, and present your findings in a professional dissertation.

- Primary RequirementLevel 8 Honours Degree (2.2H or higher) in Pharmacy, Science, Business, or equivalent discipline
- Non-Business GraduatesLevel 8 Honours Degree (2.2H or higher) in a non-business discipline; candidates with significant management experience may apply through APEL route
- Non-STEM GraduatesLevel 8 Honours Degree (2.2H or higher) in a business-related non-STEM discipline; candidates with pharmaceutical experience may apply through APEL route
- Mature ApplicantsApplicants over 23 may apply on the basis of previous work experience and a demonstrated commitment to further studies
- Bridging ModulesCandidates without management experience may take Finance for Non-Financial Managers; those without pharmaceutical experience may take Introduction to Pharmaceutical Industry
