Goals:

  • To educate individuals who understand the objectives and relationships of businesses with their environment, have a sufficient level of foreign language proficiency, and can interpret and evaluate data using their knowledge and skills to identify and offer solutions to problems.
  • To train graduates who can effectively use tools and information technologies required for practical applications related to their field, solve unexpected problems encountered in applications, take responsibility in working groups, work independently, and communicate effectively.
  • To produce individuals who are respectful to historical and social values, have a sense of social responsibility, possess universal, social, and professional ethical awareness, follow developments in their field, continuously renew themselves, and have the ability to apply these developments in their profession.

Program Objectives:

The main objective of the Foreign Trade program is to train qualified professionals with practical and theoretical knowledge in fields related to foreign trade, such as banking, transportation, customs, and exchange legislation. The program aims to educate students as professionals who can use computers effectively, as required in foreign trade transactions. Due to Turkey’s significant trade with European Union member countries and the harmonization of legislation during the EU accession process, students are also informed about EU legislation and integration, as well as foreign trade policies during the two-year program. Besides theoretical knowledge, the program also includes practical activities.

Who Can Apply to This Program?

To enter the Foreign Trade program and increase their chances of success after graduation, students should have an interest in social sciences, enjoy dealing with details, be disciplined, attentive, responsible, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and possess analytical thinking abilities. Additionally, to become successful foreign trade professionals, it is essential to follow changes in foreign trade and customs legislation and improve foreign language proficiency.

After Graduation:

Foreign Trade program graduates can work in firms engaged in import and/or export, logistics companies, foreign trade departments of companies, currency and foreign transactions departments of banks, and customs consulting offices. Furthermore, with successful participation in relevant exams, they can become customs consultant assistants and even open their own offices as customs consultants after completing a bachelor’s degree. Those who succeed in Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) can be employed as public servants, especially in the relevant units of the Ministry of Trade. Graduates can also choose to take the DGS exam and transfer to relevant undergraduate programs.
