Brunel University of London is a public research university located in Uxbridge, West London, named after the celebrated Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Founded in 1966 following the award of a Royal Charter, it is classified as a plate glass university established in response to the Robbins Report on expanding higher education in the UK.

The university is organised into three colleges — the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences; the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences; and the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. It offers degrees in over 40 subject areas and is a pioneer of the sandwich degree, with over 95% of its courses offering a professional placement year.
