Program Overview — BEd in Technological Education

The Bachelor of Education in Technological Education at Brock University is a professional teacher preparation program designed for individuals with qualifications in a broad-based technology and several years of relevant work experience who are passionate about teaching secondary students. This 16-month program, delivered through Brock's Faculty of Education, prepares candidates to become certified teachers in Ontario high schools.

The program is delivered in a blended online and in-person format across four terms, allowing candidates the flexibility to continue working at least part-time in their trade while completing their degree. Three in-school teaching practicums totalling 80 days provide essential classroom experience under the supervision of practicum advisors and associate teachers throughout the Niagara, Hamilton, and surrounding regions.

Upon successful completion, graduates are recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for membership and receive their Ontario Certificate of Qualification. The program awards a single-subject Broad-based Technology basic qualification in Grades 9-10 and Grades 11-12, enabling graduates to teach at the secondary level in their area of expertise.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the BEd in Technological Education is competitive and requires a combination of postsecondary education and documented wage-earning work experience in a broad-based technology area. English Language Requirements
