Unit 1: Investigating Practice
60 CreditsThis foundational unit supports you in investigating your creative practice, establishing research questions and developing a critical framework. You will engage with research methodologies and begin situating your work within contemporary art contexts.
Unit 2: Testing and Developing Ideas
60 CreditsBuilding on Unit 1, this module provides an opportunity to further develop practice through a self-directed artistic project. Artistic practice is developed, questioned, reflected on and analysed through dialogues, presentations, seminars and critiques.
Unit 3: Final Major Project
60 CreditsThis culminating unit enables you to undertake artistic research through an individual or collaborative MA project. You produce artistic research in relation to a selected issue or theme, supported by a written project report and disseminated in an appropriate form.
Research Intensives
IntegratedA unique component of the postgraduate curriculum, Research Intensives are short-format, deep learning sessions in areas of creative expertise led by research-active staff and external specialists. These sessions enrich subject-specific study with adjacent practices, cultural theories and creative methodologies.
Critical and Contextual Studies
IntegratedCritical writing enables you to contextualise your practice and explore conceptual and critical frameworks. You develop skills in articulating and positioning your work within broader contemporary art discourse and international cultural debates.
Professional Practice and Exhibition
