Rome Campus, Italy
The Academic Master in Alta Moda, Fashion Design is aimed at graduates willing to complete and/ or deepen their cultural and professional training in this specific area of fashion. It is a course of intensive theoretical-practical research and operational laboratory studies, through the concrete use of techniques, studies and applications for an artistic-cultural preparation aimed at developing organizational, design and operational skills. The course provides students with the basic conceptual areas and tools needed to interpret new languages, technologies and new high-end fashion market areas. Participants also have the opportunity to gain direct experience developing research projects on specific topics and collaborating with the most important professionals and with the most prestigious brands. A series of meetings with representatives of the most important companies in the supply chain and visits to companies in the field, are among the key elements of the program. The Master has a total duration of one year for a total of 1500 hours, divided into frontal and laboratory lessons, individual study, complementary activities and internship.
The course subjects provide the cultural and technical tools to face the project, from the History of Fashion with a particular focus on the History of Couture, to the understanding of fabrics and embellishment, up to the elements of computer graphics that allow students to provide professional presentations of their projects. Marketing establishes the basis for reading the DNA “codes” of a Brand and interpreting them within the social context. The heart of the Master is developed thanks to an intense design activity conducted in collaboration with companies of the supply chain. Supported by the skills acquired in the different areas and with information related to knitting techniques, students work on very different projects in which they express their design process and the ability to work in the delicate balance with the different industry partners. The course then integrates a research internship experience with various players in the supply chain and ends with the realization of an important personal project.
Upon completion of the Academic Master in Alta Moda, Fashion Design students will be able to pursue a career as Designers inside the Creative Offices of Haute Couture ateliers and in leading companies in Prét-à-Porter or to work as Product Office Managers and to cover various professional roles in Fashion: from the design of a collection to textile and print design, embellishment up to the creation of their own business.
