About the Department

Both our country and the whole world has undergone a rapid change with the advancements and developments in visual and audio communication technologies with the recent demands of the mass communication technologies. That is why the need for dynamic, creative professionals following the latest technological developments closely in the fields of radio, television and cinema has increased. The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema aims to train future professionals in the fields of radio, television and cinema, who take the ethical issues of the profession into consideration and who are well-equipped with the professional skills and knowledge. The academic staff of the department has professional and qualified lecturers as well as professionals from the sector. In the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Nisantasi University, the students get familiar with the department’s courses and the basic practices of their field in their first year. They discover their own skill and abilities in their second year. In the third and the fourth years, they specialize in a given field both through the courses they choose and with the facilities of the internship they will start doing in parallel to their fields of interest and skills. The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Nisantasi University aims to become one of the prominent departments in Turkey with its young and dynamic structure, its syllabus designed to meet the students’ needs and interests as well as its extracurricular cultural and social activities.

Fields of Employment after Graduation

In our country, the sector of radio, cinema and television is becoming diversified every day and expanding with the new activity fields created. The graduates of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema can find jobs as a director, scriptwriter, radio and television programmer, editor, image or art director, researcher and advertisement director in various fields of the sector of radio, television and cinema. Our graduates are also entitled to work at radio and television channels, in TV series or cinema films, for newspapers or magazines, and for various art institutions and non-governmental organizations. They can also follow an academic career at universities by choosing to do their postgraduate studies.

About the Courses

We aim to train graduates capable of meeting all sorts of practical needs of their field and mastering the processes that require creativity as well as dexterity, and who can take the inititative when necessary. One of our priorities is to train them to be professionals with a theoretical and critical viewpoint in their post-university life. The syllabus of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema has been designed in order to meet these needs. In this sense, our students attend both theoretical and practical courses during their four-year training. We especially take care to prevent our theoretical courses from having a structure in which the lecturer only teaches his/her subject and the students take notes; instead, we conduct our courses in such way that the students can deliver individual or collective presentations in group work and thus can improve themselves. On the other hand, we ask or require our students to form relations between the courses based on theory such as Cinema History or Communication Sciences and the courses based on practice. In other words, we expect and hope to turn our students’ university life into a process where they can take part actively in researching, writing and shooting.

5.Communicates effectively with the individual, family, community and other health disciplines.

6.Provides care in accordance with ethical and legal standards.

7.Conducts a scientific study on nursing.

8.Learns a foreign language (B1 level) at a level that will enable him/her to participate in national and international meetings and follows developments in his/her field both face-to-face and online.
