The university was formed by consolidating academic units previously affiliated with Erciyes University and Cumhuriyet University, creating an independent institution dedicated to serving the region.
The university is recognized by YOK (Council of Higher Education) and operates across two main campuses — the Erdogan Akdag Eastern Campus and the Bilal Sahin Western Campus — spanning over 4,000 acres along Ataturk Road in central Yozgat. Additional campuses in the districts of Sorgun, Akdagmadeni, Yerkoy, Bogazliyan, Sefaatli, Cekerek, and Sarikaya extend the total educational footprint to over 7,600 acres.
Today, Yozgat Bozok University has grown into a comprehensive institution with 14 faculties, 4 colleges, 8 vocational schools, 2 institutes, a research and application hospital, 15 research centers, and a technopark.
