Public Administration

The programme features a series of horizontally connected themes: Establishing epistemic justice though a decolonized curriculum, and a focus on ethics, good governance principles and social justice. Attention is given to the global south and non-western administrative systems through case studies. At the same time, different learning needs of students are acknowledged and accommodated. This qualification is ideal for anybody looking to improve their understanding of public administration, management, policy and governance and those looking to develop the skillsets needed to enter the job market in the UK or internationally. The role of policymakers and public managers is changing quickly, and this course has been designed to reflect the increase in demand for knowledge workers and managers who are skilled in policy analysis, public administration, public management, complex problem solving and practical implementation of solutions, with an emphasis on the grand challenges facing humanity. Public sector, third sector and civil service roles are a natural progression for our graduates, but an MPA can lead to private sector roles too. The leadership and management skills you will develop, teamed with a deep understanding of governance and public policy, will allow you to step into many organisational roles involving people, policy and impact.
