Greenwich's Architecture Degree, accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB), is the first step to a professional architecture career.

Teaching Occurs in the Stockwell Street Building's Heneghan Peng-designed galleries. Studio-based tutorials equip students with essential skills in architectural design, software use, and visual communication. Students will explore architectural practice, histories, contemporary theories, sustainability, and technology. Graduates will gain exemption from the RIBA Part 1 examination.

Course Highlights:

  • Innovative Learning: Engage with new technologies, social conditions, and aesthetic concerns through visual communication and drawing skills.
  • Experiential Opportunities: Visits to art galleries, museums, and architecture firms, plus guest lectures from industry leaders.
  • Recognition: Students have received prestigious national awards, such as the AJ Student Prize and RIBA student awards.

Course Structure:

  • Year 1: Modules include Architectural Design 1, Cultural Contexts, and History of Architecture.
  • Year 2: Focus on Contemporary Theories, Architectural Design 2, and Landscape Practice.
  • Year 3: Complete a dissertation and advanced design modules.

Learning Approach:

  • Combination of timetabled learning and independent study, with seminars and workshops for deeper understanding.
  • Class sizes average 100-110 students, with smaller groups for seminars.
  • Self-study is essential, involving reading, research, and coursework preparation, supported by the Stockwell Street Library and online resources.

Assessment: Formal assessments determine grades, with feedback provided within 15 working days.

Career Pathways: This course prepares students for year-out practice in architecture, leading to advanced studies in RIBA/ARB part 2 MArch in Architecture. Graduates can also pursue careers in computer-aided design, urban design, project management, and more.

Employability Services: Continuous employability activities, including CV clinics and workshops, are provided to enhance job readiness. The dedicated Employability Officer organizes work-related activities throughout the year.
