Psychology

The professional qualification is complemented by the acquisition of interdisciplinary core competencies. The bachelor's program will thus include a broad spectrum of vocational training and qualification options, while also providing a solid foundation for subsequent admission to a master's program. In the first two years of study, in addition to the basic subjects (general psychology, biological psychology, developmental psychology, differential psychology, and social psychology), the career-oriented applied subjects of clinical psychology, work and organizational psychology, and educational psychology are offered. Methodological skills are taught in the fields of statistics, test theory, and diagnostics. The module "Scientific Work in Psychology" serves to acquire interdisciplinary skills (such as scientific reading, writing, arithmetic, and presentation skills). The third year of study is followed by an interest-based elective course that, in addition to a professional field internship and the bachelor's thesis, covers traditional fields of work in psychology (e.g., personnel selection, learning support, maldevelopment) and emerging fields (e.g., neuroscience, learning with media). In the final module, students acquire in-depth qualifications in the theory and practice of scientific work. Based on the aptitude- and career-oriented combination of study modules, an individual qualification profile is developed in the third year of study, and the program concludes with the bachelor's thesis.
