Overview

Graduates in Environmental Geology must be able to clearly communicate experimental data and the results of studies and investigations orally to other professionals working in the field or even to a non-specialist audience, using current and correct terminology. They must also be able to explain geological and environmental issues comprehensibly in English, even to a qualified audience. Written communication skills will enable the preparation of comprehensive scientific and technical reports or presentations, which illustrate rationales and findings using diagrams, graphics, and cartographic representations.

Communication skills are developed gradually throughout the course, using the scientific terminology and expressions specific to the courses attended, through the drafting of reports, reports, and presentations that report the results of field and laboratory exercises, and during the preparation of the final thesis. Communication skills will be assessed through written, oral, and practical tests in individual courses and during the presentation of the final thesis, which will be publicly discussed before a committee.

Graduates in Environmental Geology must possess the cognitive tools, logical elements, and familiarity with information technology to enable ongoing updating of their knowledge. Furthermore, they must be able to extract information in the various fields of geological disciplines by reading scientific articles and technical reports.

Specifically, these skills will include the acquisition of an effective study methodology, which will enable bachelor's degree graduates to continue their university education with a master's degree or pursue a professional career. This objective will be pursued by encouraging independent study among students, offering them the opportunity to test and improve their learning skills. To this end, dedicated time slots for individual learning will be scheduled during class hours, and teaching will be coordinated to encourage students to independently develop logical reasoning aimed at solving problems based on specific hypotheses.

Activities such as multidisciplinary fieldwork, training internships, and final report writing will enable graduates in Environmental Geology Sciences to organize and manage, both independently and collaboratively, the various phases of a work plan, including researching bibliographic and cartographic materials, as well as collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geological data collected in the field or in the laboratory.

Students' learning ability will be assessed based on individual exams, the preparation of related papers and reports, and the final report.
