Overview
Learn the Russian language while gaining a deep understanding of Russian culture through the study of literature, film and more. Students wishing to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Russian can follow one of two tracks. The Culture Focused emphasis helps students become well versed not only in the Russian language but also in heritage. Undergraduates will complete a series of language courses and choose from a robust list of electives covering topics such as food, folklore and the cultural impact of historical events, all in taught English. Each summer, the Department of Russian and Slavic Studies also offers Russian majors opportunities to study abroad in Moscow or Kazakhstan with a focus on language and cultural immersion. Graduates go on to fill government, business and nonprofit roles.
