What will I learn?

Cybersecurity. Networking. Programming. Product and project management. From cloud and hardware technologies to databases and data analytics, you’ll learn how to apply these tools, and more, to fit the needs of diverse and complex business environments. At UB, you'll get trained in specific technical skills and see exactly how IT can create value within an organization and throughout society. Of course, technical proficiency and business insights are just the beginning. With team-based projects and real-life case studies, you'll also learn crucial soft skills, including how to be a good partner and collaborative team leader, how to manage projects, and how to speak the language of marketing, operations, finance and other groups throughout an organization.

What can I do outside of class?

Make lifelong friends, connect with mentors and build new skills.

• Student groups. UB has many business-focused groups where you can compete, meet other students and give back to the community.
• Internships and experiential learning. Our interns have developed programs for Goodwill, worked for Under Armour, and learned from experts nationwide through research and case competitions.
• Study abroad. Whether you want to work for a global company or you just love to travel, consider studying abroad.
• UB's Blackstone Launchpad. Our entrepreneurship hub offers programs, support and connections.

What can I do with an information technology and management degree?

Nearly every company, organization and government agency uses computers and technology, which means a degree in information technology and management gives you flexibility and choices throughout your career.

Who will I learn from?

At UB, our faculty members have worked as technology industry executives, conducted research funded by Google and the National Science Foundation, and served as editors for leading journals. They draw from their experience in data engineering, cybersecurity, social network analytics, database systems, health information systems and artificial intelligence, among other key topics.

Perhaps most importantly, our faculty members are exceptional teachers and mentors. Many have been lauded for their expertise in the classroom, and several have received prestigious recognition like the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professorship.
