Overview
The Fashion (BA Professional) program at UBT is dedicated to fostering a dynamic and innovative academic environment that reflects a developmental aspect of the 21st century. Based on the principles of participatory self-government and a rich tradition of teamwork, the program is designed to inspire and cultivate the next generation of designers and artists who are capable of navigating the complexities of the contemporary creative world.
The mission of the Fashion Design program at UBT is to prepare students/graduates with practical, critical and analytical skills, problem-solving skills, self-initiative, and knowledge in professional fashion design practice and in multi-disciplinary areas; to provide comprehensive knowledge that will lead them to become professionals in the field of Fashion Design working in a broader scope of fashion design institutions, fashion studios, film, television and theatre.
The intended learning outcomes of the program are presented below:
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of fashion design, with a deep understanding of both historical and contemporary artistic movements and their principles.
Construct innovative and impactful fashion design works by using foundational design knowledge, pattern cutting and draping skills.
Demonstrate proficiency in visual communication within the fashion industry, including the application of digital fashion illustration, and branding strategies, to effectively convey fashion concepts and brand narratives.
Solve complex fashion design challenges, showcasing originality and creative problem-solving skills.
Apply practical skills in pattern making, garment construction, 3D modeling, and prototyping to realize design concepts.
Associate effectively on interdisciplinary design projects, encouraging teamwork and knowledge sharing with peers and industry professionals.
Practice continuous learning by exploring diverse electives such as experimental design and fashion styling, ensuring adaptability in the evolving design industry.
Organise personal and professional development, emphasizing portfolio building, design research methods, and gaining real-world experience through internship.
Produce comprehensive and innovative solutions for the fashion industry challenges by combining knowledge from various design disciplines, including fashion design, textile technology, and accessory design.
