Program Overview: Digital International Program (DIGIT)

The Digital International Program (DIGIT) at Sorbonne University enables outstanding international students to create a custom curriculum covering the central themes of Sorbonne University's computer science master's programs, including Bioinformatics, Computer Vision, Computer Networks and Security. This program is exclusively designed for non-French-speaking students and is taught entirely in English at the Jussieu Campus in the heart of Paris.

Each student enrolled in the DIGIT program has the opportunity to design their own curriculum by selecting a coherent subset of teaching units from courses offered in English. The program mainly guarantees specializations in Networks and Image Processing, while also accommodating other areas through supervised projects and extended projects undertaken during the first three semesters.

The program spans four semesters with 30 ECTS per semester, totaling 120 ECTS. The final semester is dedicated to a research or industry internship of at least five months, giving students hands-on professional experience in their chosen specialization.

Key Program Highlights

  • Fully customizable English-taught curriculum allowing students to build a personalized study path across multiple computer science specializations
  • Specialization tracks in Networks and Image Processing with additional options in Data Science, Bioinformatics, and Security
  • A 5-to-6-month internship in the final semester at a research laboratory or industry partner
  • Access to Sorbonne University's LIP6 laboratory, one of France's leading computer science research centers affiliated with CNRS

Curriculum and Modules

The DIGIT curriculum is structured across four semesters, blending compulsory core courses with a wide selection of electives. Students in the Networks specialization follow a defined track in semesters one and two, while Image Processing students have their own dedicated pathway. All courses carry 6 ECTS and are taught in English at a recommended C1 level (minimum B2).

Algorithms and Applications (AA)

6 ECTS

Explores how algorithmic theory is applied in practice, covering topics such as compression, clustering, cryptography, error correcting codes, computational biology, and distributed decision making.

Computer Networks (COMNET)

6 ECTS

A compulsory first-semester module for the Networks specialization covering fundamental principles of computer networking, protocol design, and network architecture.

System Design and Modeling (SDM)

6 ECTS

Introduces the problem of modeling and performance evaluation of systems, addressing why models are important, when system performance evaluation is needed, and which techniques and models are most useful.

Wireless and Mobile Computing (WIMOB)

6 ECTS

Examines how user mobility and wireless transmissions affect computer communications, covering physical layer mechanisms, wireless signal propagation, Wi-Fi standards, and the impact of mobility on IP protocols.

Cloud Computing (CLOUD)

6 ECTS

A compulsory second-semester module for the Networks track that covers cloud service models, deployment strategies, virtualization technologies, and distributed computing architectures.

Processor Architecture (ARCHI)

6 ECTS

Focuses on processor architecture and optimizations using MIPS to illustrate concepts including pipeline design, superscalar execution, memory hierarchy, and code optimization techniques.

Elective Modules

Data Science: Algorithms for Large-Scale Data (DALAS) Parallel Programming (PPAR) Network Data Analysis (NDA) Fundamentals of Image Processing (FIMA)
