About Silesian University of Technology

The Silesian University of Technology (Politechnika Slaska) is the oldest technical university in Upper Silesia and one of the largest in Poland. Founded in 1945 by professors of the Lwow Polytechnic who relocated after World War II, it was established as a scientific and educational facility for the most industrialized region in Poland and Europe.

Today, the university is organized into 13 faculties and 1 research institute, offering nearly 60 fields of study and approximately 200 specializations covering the entire spectrum of engineering activities. With campuses in Gliwice, Katowice, and Zabrze, SUT educates over 15,600 students at bachelor, master, and doctoral levels.

SUT is the only university in Silesia included in the prestigious group of 10 Polish universities selected as winners of the Excellence Initiative - Research University competition by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The university is also a member of the European University EURECA-PRO consortium, reinforcing its international research profile.
