Program Overview: AI and Data Analytics Co-Op Diploma
The Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA) Co-Op Diploma at Red Deer Polytechnic prepares you to use AI technology to create innovative solutions for modern industry problems. You will gain hands-on experience in machine learning and data analytics through classwork, projects, and labs covering the full data analytics lifecycle.
In your first year, you will build a strong foundation in data science and machine learning using industry tools like Python, SQL, and modern AI frameworks. You will learn to work with real-world datasets, explore machine learning algorithms, and dive into areas such as data engineering, computer vision, neural networks, and deep learning.
In your second year, you can choose a personalized learning stream to specialize in Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Bioinformatics, or create your own unique blend. The Co-Op Specialization includes a minimum 420-hour paid work term, allowing you to network and apply your knowledge through structured professional experience.

The AIDA Co-Op Diploma curriculum covers the complete machine learning and data analytics lifecycle. You will progress from foundational data skills to advanced AI techniques, with a paid co-op work term integrated into your final semester to ensure you graduate career-ready.
Data Mining and Collection
3 CreditsLearn to collect and manage data through data mining, text scraping, and sensor data gathering. You will work with real-world datasets and develop skills in sourcing structured and unstructured data.
Data Preprocessing and Exploratory Analysis
3 CreditsPrepare and analyze datasets using preprocessing techniques, conduct exploratory data analysis, and develop effective data communication and storytelling skills.
Machine Learning Algorithms and Data Systems
3 CreditsDevelop and evaluate machine learning models, algorithms, and data systems. You will study modern ML techniques including predictive modelling and pattern recognition.
Deep Learning and Neural Networks

Admission to the AIDA Co-Op Diploma is competitive, with limited seats available for the Co-Op Specialization.
