Mykolas Romeris University

For your information, the MRU website provides relevant and detailed information about the largest specialized University of social sciences in Lithuania. I have been a member of the community of this University for almost two decades. In 2019, I was elected Rector of MRU and now I am very pleased to invite you to my Alma Mater! 

Our University, located in Lithuania’s capital – Vilnius, and uniting the Public Security Academy in Kaunas, is the youngest state institution of higher education in Lithuania. It was established in 1990, after the restoration of Lithuania’s independence.  

Today we are a modern, open, dynamic and international University named after the prestigious legal scholar Professor Mykolas Romeris, who was a public figure in the early 20th century. We are proud to be able to continue Prof. Mykolas Romeris’ and other scholarly academics’ tradition of respect for freedom and human rights, tolerance, humanism and as well as orientation towards the best of European and world academic, research and studies’ practices. 

By providing our students with a high-quality higher education that meets the best European education standards, we train well-qualified lawyers and law enforcement officers, specialists in modern business management, cybersecurity, digital economy and communication specialists, experts in EU and international politics, psychology, innovative social work, education and research workers.  

While creating social innovations, we successfully apply and integrate modern technologies in social science studies, research and practical activities, closely cooperating with academic and social partners in Lithuania and abroad.  

Our goal is to prepare students for a quality life, who care about the harmonious and sustainable development of individuals, society and the state and who are able to think creatively, when solving challenges of the present and the future. We are proud of our alumni who are successfully working in Lithuanian state institutions and municipalities, law enforcement, business, education, culture and non-governmental sectors. We are especially proud that they have embarked on successful careers in international companies and organizations. 

In MRU’s academic community, which brings together students and lecturers from all over the world, we foster free, creative, responsible critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Everyone here, besides the possibilities to study and undertake scientific research, can also engage in the fields of art and sports, and participate in various voluntary activities.
