These new communication fields, based on Internet technologies, are collectively known as New Media. New Media combine the features of both traditional media and modern communication technologies, while introducing their own distinctive codes and communication language, differing from conventional media. Because of these unique characteristics, New Media have been transforming the communication systems traditionally seen in older media formats.

As a substantial part of the global world, New Media deeply affect individuals' lifestyles as well as business practices. With the continuous growth and influence of New Media, it has become essential to examine this field as a separate discipline distinct from traditional media.
